PTC THERMISTOR
PTC is a positive temperature coefficient thermistor. It is a typical semiconductor resistance
with temperature sensitivity. When the temperature exceeds a certain temperature (Curie temperature), its resistance value increases with the increase of temperature.
Application
◆ Overvoltage, overcurrent and overload protection,Mainly used for power transformers, various chargers, various instruments and other over current, overheating protection occasions
◆ Motor, compressor startup assistance
◆ Motor overheating protection, electric iron constant temperature maintenance, filament preheating delay start, LED constant current compensation and other functions
When PTC is used as over-current protection element, the specification of the maximum non-action current and the maximum working voltage should be selected, at the same time, we should also consider the element size, rated zero-power resistance, the use of temperature range and other factors. Usually, the maximum current of PTC is 1.2-1.5 times of the maximum current when the circuit is working normally The voltage that may be applied to the PTC under normal or abnormal conditions should not be greater than its maximum operating voltage.
